# Flare

Flare is an EVM-compatible Layer 1 built around decentralised data, with enshrined protocols — the FTSO for time-series data and the Flare Data Connector for external information — available directly to contracts. From a developer perspective execution is standard EVM, so deploy with familiar tooling and consume Flare's native data feeds instead of relying on third-party oracles.
