# Core Mainnet

Core is a Bitcoin-aligned EVM Layer 1 secured by its Satoshi Plus consensus, which combines Bitcoin hash power and delegated staking to bring smart-contract functionality to the BTC ecosystem. From a developer perspective contracts and clients are standard EVM, so deploy with familiar Ethereum tooling while building applications that tap into Bitcoin-centric utility.
